Weekend
April 28, 2008
We went to Missouri this weekend and had a great time. We spent most of it at Damion’s parents and just hung out. On Saturday we even took a walk to the park and let the kids play. I got some really fun shots of everyone. I even got a sunburn on my chest! The first one of many this year, I’m sure. xD I’m super pooped today though. But! I’m off to San Francisco on Thursday and I’m super squeeeee about it. I can’t wait!
I’m getting married!
April 21, 2008
Really. I am! Eventually, anyway.
On Friday after work, the love of my life asked me to marry him. He made a short little RPG computer game leading up to some really nice words telling me how much I mean to him and him asking for my hand. Of course I said ‘yes.’ I was crying and all I could do is hug him. I was so happy I was speechless. Afterwards we went to the mall and he let me pick out my ring. See?

We’re so so excited! We’re not sure about a date, and it’ll probably be a long engagement. But it’s a promise, and that’s what matters. <3
Seems like I have less to say these days…
March 21, 2008
I guess that’s… a good thing? 1) It means I have less to complain about 2) It means I am not just blogging to blog.
I was shown the site www.musicovery.com by a new friend of mine, and I am in lurrrrvee!! I can listen freely all day at work and discover new musics! That makes me happy!
I swear my boyfriend needs to be in sales. We decided yesterday to sell my futon so we can open up the living room so i can start sewing more and have access to my “sewing area.” That and we have a ton of spring cleaning to do. Anyway, we decided yesterday, and today he may have already sold it to someone he knows. Geez. I wish I were that persuasive/talkative/liked people.
Last night we watched Young Frankenstein. I love that movie to death. It’s a family cult classic, and we quote it all the time. Damion hadn’t ever seen it, so it was kind of his induction to the family. I’ve already got him quoting it. ♥
Speaking of family, we’re heading to my parents’ for Easter. It’s going to be a great opportunity for Damion to meet alot more of my extended family. Plus, free foods are always good. Especially when it’s barbeque and such. Yum yum!
Goodbye Consumating.com
March 17, 2008
One of my, if not THE, favorite website(s), Consumating.com, died on Friday, March 14, 2008.
In sum, Consumating.com began as a dating site for 20-somethings, but turned into a quirky social networking site, much like Myspace or Facebook. It was created by the Internet Rockstar himself, Ben Brown, who sold it to CNET for lots o’ cash. CNET abandoned Consumating, leaving 1 person to update it weekly. Instead of trying to revive the site with a small, connected group of diehard, loyal users, it decided to pull the plug.
Consumating to me…. meant alot. Some people are disgruntled at CNET because the site was a little piece of the internet hardly anyone knew about, but for those who did, it became a real community. I talked to and met several people I never would have talked to on the street. Jason, Oz, and Sheldon… here’s to you.
But my the biggest life changer: Consumating.com is where I met Damion. Obviously, I hope by now you realize, just how much he means to me, to my life. I would never have met my sweet midwesterner if not for Consumating.com.
So thank you Consumating. For keeping me company. For giving me company. I’ll definitely never forget your internet presence.
Here’s what CNET is saying about Consumating’s death:
Q: What was the deal with Consumating.com? Why was it shutdown? Why are they angry? What are they doing here?
A: Consumating was a social networking site originally started as a dating site for 20 somethings — but it eventually morphed into a general late teens / 20s social site with a quirky twist.
Over the years Consumating was shuffled around from group to group and all the people that were originally involved moved on. The site was slowly falling into disrepair and no group wanted to “step up” and take on fixing it, so the choice was eventually made to shut the site down.
Users were given a few weeks notice, and CNET released all the content they had uploaded as well as every single line of programming code that was “consumating” so people could set up their own clones elsewhere.
We (CNET) did the right thing, allowing the users to recreate their community in an environment where it would get all the love and attention it deserves (that we weren’t giving it).
When the clock was up, Consumating was shutdown and all traffic redirected to help.com. Help and Consumating had a lot in common code-wise (friends, shouts, posts/replies).
Weekend
March 11, 2008
Damion went to Missouri this weekend to see his daughter. He’s on his way back today. You know, once you get used to someone being around and then they’re not there, it makes you kinda cranky.
I barely left my house this weekend. I wish my friends in Austin would give me a call once in a while. You know, instead of assuming I’m dead or whatever. “Alexis, you know the phone works both ways.” Yeah, but I always do the calling. Bump that. So I stayed home and played the Sims, ran an errand, and did laundry.
Work so far this week has been awful. It’s stressing me out and making my shoulder hurt. Honestly, I shouldn’t be stressing about stupid stuff like what’s been going on. This is a placeholder job, right? I’ve always been scared that I’m going to “get stuck” at a job that I don’t want to make my career. I don’t want to make this my career. Especially when there’s not much room to even move up here. What to do….
And, I was told by my PT that I owe like $17 per session. 10 sessions, add that up. Not cheap. And I still have a bunk shoulder. At least it’s getting better.
Crankypants.
This week is SXSW, so I’m expecting the week to get better with all the free music I will be hearing. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Life, etc.
March 4, 2008
I never thought I would have a routine life, but I’m beginning to like it more and more. I’ve always been an advocate for change, but a little familiarity now and then is pretty comfortable.
BUT there are a few things going on. I voted this past Friday. I won’t tell you who I voted for, but I can say I’ve never gotten chills doing my civic duty like I did this go around. And it’s just the primaries! I did get to shake the hand of democratic candidate Larry Joe Doherty, who did win my vote for Congress. A little effort doesn’t hurt people.
On Friday, Damion and I also got a kitten! It took us a couple of days, but we decided on the name Mazzy, short for Mazda. She likes to zoom zoom zoom all over the place, and is hard to catch. Momiji has been getting used to her a little at a time, but was hissing and growling at her at first. We’ve been isolating her in the bathroom and letting her out a little longer each day. They’ve been playing, but he’s kinda rough with her, which makes me nervous. Damion says it’s normal that they rough house and shouldn’t worry. You can see Mazzy on my Flickr.
Physical therapy for my shoulder is going pretty good. I’m getting better with the range of motion. My PT says he doesn’t think I’ll need surgery, but that punching is probably out of the question for a good long while. I guess this means no more kickboxing. That makes me really sad, but I may try to push it a little and see how it feels. Not anytime soon though.
I’ve been really slacking with the working out. It was working too! I just gotta get back on a regular schedule. More of that routine stuff.
Have you tried the Crystal Light White Grape drink to-go packets? If not, I recommend them. Delicioso.
